24 HEURES” ON THE VISIT OF SWISS PRESIDENT GUY PARMELIN TO SERBIA
The visit is being organized in a year when Serbia and Switzerland mark 110 years of diplomatic relations, and it further confirms the high level of cooperation, especially in the field of economy, where Serbia is Switzerland’s most significant trading partner in the Western Balkans region. During the visit, further steps toward economic integration are expected to be discussed, as well as a new cooperation program with Serbia for the period 2026–2029.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Switzerland, Ivan Trifunović, stated that relations between the two countries are “very good at all levels,” emphasizing that “several elements bring Serbia and Switzerland closer together, which may not be obvious at first glance.” He also pointed out shared interests in preserving stability and dialogue in Europe.
The visit also has broader political significance, considering Switzerland’s role in the region, including its engagement within KFOR in Kosovo and Metohija. At the same time, it represents an additional step toward strengthening overall relations and partnership between the Republic of Serbia and the Swiss Confederation.
