The Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Switzerland, Ivan Trifunović, took part in the GESDA Summit 2025 (Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator), held in Geneva under the theme “The Age of Possibility: Science, Sovereignty, and Shared Futures.” This prestigious global forum brings together scientists, diplomats, and innovators with the goal of anticipating future scientific breakthroughs and translating research outcomes into concrete, applicable solutions for global challenges.

On the sidelines of the Summit, Ambassador Trifunović met with Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis, Head of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, to whom he conveyed warm greetings from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić. Federal Councillor Cassis reciprocated with his own cordial regards and expressed satisfaction with the continued and substantive dialogue between Switzerland and Serbia.

Ambassador Trifunović also held constructive discussions with State Secretary Alexandre Fasel, responsible for multilateral affairs and science diplomacy at the Swiss MFA, as well as with Professor Michael Hengartner, President of the ETH Board, which oversees Switzerland’s leading scientific and technological institutions — ETH Zurich and EPFL Lausanne.

Drawing on his scientific background, Ambassador Trifunović actively participated in a series of thematic discussions with officials, scientists, and representatives of international organizations, focusing on strengthening cooperation in the fields of science, innovation, and sustainable development.
