Bilateral Political Consultations with the Swiss Confederation

30. Oct 2025.
Bilateral political consultations between the delegations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation were held in Bern.

The Swiss delegation was headed by Ambassador Pierre-Yves Fux, Head of the Eurasia Division, while the Serbian delegation was led by Ambassador Tamara Rastovac Siamashvili, Assistant Minister for Bilateral Cooperation. The Serbian delegation also included Deputy Assistant Minister for Multilateral Cooperation Ksenija Milenković and Head of the Europe Department Milena Mitić, as well as Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy Bojan Stojanović and First Counsellor Dmitar Stanišić.

Both sides reaffirmed the importance of holding annual bilateral political consultations as an essential mechanism for exchanging views on issues of mutual interest at both the bilateral and multilateral levels.

During the talks, a wide range of topics were discussed, including parliamentary diplomacy, economy, science and innovation. The Serbian side informed its counterparts about the difficult situation and human rights challenges faced by the Serbian community in Kosovo and Metohija, emphasizing the need for international engagement to prevent unilateral actions by Pristina.

Particular emphasis was placed on the upcoming 12th session of the Joint Committee to be held in Belgrade on November 12, 2025, as well as on Switzerland’s participation in the Specialized Exhibition EXPO 2027 in Belgrade, for which gratitude was expressed to the Swiss side.

The consultations also included discussions on cooperation between the two countries within international organizations, notably in the Council of Europe and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), in the context of Switzerland’s upcoming OSCE Chairpersonship next year.
