Concert and exhibition of works by students of the Serbian Supplementary School in Switzerland
The main organizers were teacher Jelena Mitrović and religious education teacher Dr. Ađena Marković from the canton of Bern. Teachers Tijana Krajina and Snezana Šaronjić also participated in the design of the program with their students - who also actively participated in recitations and solo performances on the trumpet, violin, flute, guitar and saxophone. More than 50 children of different ages participated in the program, whose artistic skills were observed by about a hundred parents and friends. The event was supported by the KUD "Karađorđe" from Bern, whose youngest members traditionally welcomed the guests with bread and salt at the entrance to the Embassy.
Over the past week, the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Bern has received almost two hundred artworks by children taught by teachers Jelena Mitrović, Snezana Šaronjić, Margita Tot, Mira Tomić, Tijana Krajina, Milica Marković, Slavica Lapčević, Jelena Stešić, Smiljka Miletić and Gordana Nikolić. The themes of the works were "New Year's holidays in my homeland", "Christmas morning in my home" and "Christmas Eve with grandma and grandpa".
The guests and students were welcomed by Ambassador Goran Bradić and Archpriest-Staurophor Stanko Marković, parish priest of the Serbian Orthodox community of Bern. Consul P. Mandić prepared diplomas and letters of appreciation that were presented to everyone who sent their works or made the event special with their performance. After the program, the children had the opportunity to, according to the old Serbian tradition, look for sweets in the straw.
