Embassy Representatives as Guests of Honour at the OLMA Fair in St. Gallen
The opening ceremony was also attended by Guy Parmelin, President of the Swiss Confederation and Federal Councillor heading the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research, who officially opened this year’s fair. His presence underscored the significance of this event not only for agriculture and the economy, but also for Switzerland’s political and institutional life.
With a tradition spanning more than eight decades, the OLMA Fair extends beyond the scope of an agricultural and commercial exhibition, serving as an important platform for meetings and dialogue among representatives of the country’s political, institutional and economic sectors. Bringing together representatives of the federal and cantonal authorities, business associations, the agricultural sector and the business community, the fair provides an opportunity to exchange views on current issues, strengthen institutional ties and establish new forms of cooperation. At the same time, it offers an important platform for promoting agricultural and food products, innovation and economic potential, while fostering connections between domestic and international partners.
Ambassador Dr Ivan Trifunović attended the opening ceremony at the special invitation of the organisers, as one of only two ambassadors invited on this occasion, alongside the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany. During the opening ceremony, the organisers’ representatives extended special greetings to Ambassador Dr Ivan Trifunović and First Counsellor Dmitar Stanišić.
On the sidelines of the fair, Ambassador Dr Ivan Trifunović held a number of meetings with prominent representatives of Switzerland’s political and economic circles, cantonal authorities and Swiss business associations. These meetings provided an opportunity to exchange views on current political and economic issues and discuss possibilities for further enhancing cooperation and strengthening ties between Serbia and Switzerland.
The Embassy’s participation in this prestigious event contributes to strengthening political dialogue, developing economic relations and expanding contacts with representatives of Swiss institutions and the business community, with a view to further deepening cooperation between the two countries.
