Post of Serbia elected member of the Postal Operations Council of the Universal Postal Union

22. Sep 2025.
At the 28th Congress of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), held in Dubai on 18 September 2025, the Post of Serbia was, for the first time, elected as a full member of the Postal Operations Council (POC) for the mandate 2026–2029. The candidacy of the Republic of Serbia received the support of 100 member states, in strong competition within the Eastern Europe and Northern Asia group.

This achievement represents an important recognition for the Republic of Serbia and the Post of Serbia, as well as confirmation of the progress made in the field of postal services and the strengthening of Serbia’s role and status in the European and global postal sector. Membership in the Postal Operations Council will enable Serbia to actively participate in defining the international regulatory framework, contribute to improving service quality through development projects, and promote the exchange of knowledge, experience, and best practices among UPU member countries.

The Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Bern, as the point of contact with the UPU whose headquarters are located in the Swiss Confederation, actively supported the candidacy of the Republic of Serbia. On this occasion, the Embassy extends its sincere gratitude to all member states that provided valuable support during the election process and looks forward to continued cooperation within the UPU. This is also an example of excellent teamwork and dedicated coordination by the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Bern, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications, and the Post of Serbia.
