“The Serbian Diaspora Has Made a Significant Contribution to Switzerland”
The Swiss newspaper Blick reported that the President of Switzerland, Guy Parmelin, paid an official visit to the Republic of Serbia, where he was received by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić. The visit took place in the context of marking 110 years of diplomatic relations between Serbia and Switzerland, with a focus on further strengthening political dialogue and economic cooperation.
The report particularly highlights the importance of the Serbian diaspora in Switzerland, which represents an important bridge between the two countries. It conveys a statement by Guy Parmelin that the Serbian community is well integrated and makes a significant contribution to Swiss society in numerous fields, including business, science, medicine, sports, and culture.
It is further noted that economic cooperation represents a key segment of bilateral relations, with Serbia being Switzerland’s most important trading partner in the Western Balkans, and that there is significant potential for further enhancing cooperation, particularly in the fields of information technology, innovation, and renewable energy. The importance of developing dual education was also emphasized, with Switzerland seen as an important partner to Serbia in this area.
The Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Bern assesses the visit as a strong political signal and a confirmation of good and stable bilateral relations, as well as an incentive for their further deepening in all areas of mutual interest.
