The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić, stated today, after a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, Ignazio Cassis, that very substantive and fruitful discussions were held in Bern on bilateral relations, as well as on regional and global issues.

After the meeting, Đurić told reporters that Serbs living in Switzerland are one of the key bridges and pillars of overall bilateral relations.

"We are extremely grateful to our Swiss hosts for being the first country to officially confirm participation in the Expo 2027 exhibition, which represents a unique opportunity for Serbia to show the world its new face, to show all the positive changes that have occurred and everything we strive for in the coming period. That is why we are investing so much in building new infrastructure and developing new capacities. Serbia and Switzerland have excellent cooperation in the economic sphere, primarily in the field of ICT and other services, and we also greatly appreciate the support we have received from Switzerland in the development of our science and technology parks," said Đurić.

"We also discussed regional and global issues, and since both Switzerland and Serbia are militarily neutral countries, we have a specific view of world events. I shared Serbia's position and our desire to contribute to peace, not only in our region, but also more broadly, as well as our readiness to participate in all initiatives that lead to peace and stability on our continent," said the Serbian foreign minister.

Minister Đurić thanked the hosts for their hospitality, expressing hope that we will soon be able to host our Swiss friends in Belgrade.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, Ignazio Cassis, addressing the media, expressed satisfaction with the productive meeting, during which, as he stated, numerous issues of common interest were discussed.

Noting the good relations between Serbia and Switzerland, Cassis said that there is room for their further improvement, especially in the areas of economy, science and modern technologies. He added that the numerous Serbian diaspora in Switzerland attaches particular importance to the relations between the two countries.

Cassis also stated that he discussed with the Serbian Foreign Minister the situation in the Western Balkans, as well as the Swiss chairmanship of the OSCE next year, and cooperation with Serbia within that organization.

Minister Cassis paid special attention to the specialized exhibition Expo 2027, recalling that Switzerland was the first country to confirm its participation, while emphasizing that he personally is very much looking forward to the event.
