Visit of Ambassador Trifunović to the Canton of Ticino | Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Swiss Confederation

Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia, Dr Ivan Trifunović, accompanied by his spouse, paid a visit to the Canton of Ticino, during which he held a number of important meetings with representatives of the political, cultural and social life of the canton.

As part of the visit, Ambassador Trifunović met with Fabio Regazzi, Member of the Council of States of the Swiss Parliament (Ständerat), President of the Swiss Business Federation and Chief Executive Officer of “Regazzi SA”. In a cordial and friendly atmosphere, the interlocutors discussed the enhancement of parliamentary cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the Swiss Confederation, as well as the further development of economic and overall bilateral cooperation, which is progressing in a positive and upward direction.

During his stay in Ticino, the Ambassador visited the LAC cultural centre (Lugano Arte e Cultura) in Lugano and toured the permanent exhibition of the Museo d’arte della Svizzera italiana (MASI), where he was welcomed by Dragan Jovanović, Deputy Director and Head of the Finance, Administration and Human Resources Department of the museum. On that occasion, the role of this institution as one of the leading cultural centres in the canton and the significance of its museum collection were presented.

Within the framework of the visit, Ambassador Trifunović also attended the celebration marking the thirtieth anniversary of the establishment and work of the “Sveti Sava” Association from Bellinzona, highlighting the importance of Serbian diaspora associations as vital bridges of cooperation and connection between the Republic of Serbia and the Swiss Confederation.

The visit to the Canton of Ticino reaffirmed the importance of dialogue, culture and economic cooperation as foundations for the further development of friendly relations between the two countries.
